Dear friends of John Cabot University,

I am writing to announce a conference on ‘Cosmopolitanism and Conflict’ that will take place at the University this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The conference will focus on contemporary ‘cosmopolitan’ ideals of human rights, equality and global community and how these relate to the conflict-ridden realities of global politics – to such issues as war, humanitarianism, poverty, revolution, global democracy, and migration. So the talks, many by important speakers from U.S. and European universities, will be especially interesting to those studying international affairs, political science, political theory, and philosophy.

Attending the talks is free, and you are very welcome to attend any talks you wish. You will just need a photo ID to enter the University.

(However, if you wish also to attend the conference dinner, aperitivo and lunches, I am afraid there is a contribution to pay: €70 for faculty or €30 for students for all three days, or €25 / 10 for a single day. Please let me know at tbailey@johncabot.edu<mailto:tbailey@johncabot.edu> if you wish to do that, so that I have an idea of much food to order.)

For more details about the program, please see the following webpage: http://www.johncabot.edu/about_jcu/news_and_events/conferences/cosmopolitanism-and-conflict.aspx

I look forward to seeing you at the conference!

Best wishes,

Tom Bailey

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Business Administration <http://www.johncabot.edu/about_jcu/directory/Faculty_Form.aspx?IdFaculty=33#>
